What this website does

The GPT Exporter website provides product information, documentation, FAQ pages, software download pages, a public website demo, a donation page, and internal private administration/statistics pages not intended for public use.

The site does not currently provide public user accounts, newsletter signup, comment systems, or public contact forms.

Information we process

When you visit the website, we may process technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, improve, and measure the website.

The website includes a donation page with public cryptocurrency wallet addresses.

If you choose to donate through a blockchain network, your transaction may be publicly visible on that blockchain according to the rules of that network. GPT Exporter does not control blockchain visibility and does not provide anonymity guarantees for blockchain transactions.

The website does not currently process donations through Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, or similar payment processors on the pages described in this Privacy Policy.

How we use information

We use website-related information for operating and delivering the website, serving downloads and documentation, understanding site usage and download activity, measuring inbound sources and referrals, maintaining website performance and reliability, fraud, abuse, and bot detection, debugging and technical troubleshooting, protecting the website and private admin areas, and maintaining internal audit and security records.

This Privacy Policy explains how the GPT Exporter Windows desktop application processes information when you use the application to open, convert, and browse your official ChatGPT export files.

This section applies to the Windows desktop application only. Separate terms may apply to the website and Android application.

What the Windows application does

GPT Exporter for Windows is an offline-first desktop application that helps users convert official ChatGPT export archives into separate local chat files and open them in a local browser-based viewer.

In the current version, the application:
opens a user-selected ChatGPT export ZIP file
extracts supported conversation data locally
converts supported chat content into per-chat JSON files
stores converted files locally on the user’s device
runs a local HTTP viewer on 127.0.0.1 for local browsing
opens the local viewer in the user’s default browser

Information the application accesses

The application accesses only information that the user intentionally provides or generates locally through use of the application.

This may include:
the selected ChatGPT export ZIP file
conversation JSON files contained in that export
export manifest files where present
derived local chat JSON output files
application log files
local temporary files created during export
local crash dump files if generated

Information the application does not collect from you remotely

In the current version, the Windows application does not include:
user accounts
login systems
cloud storage
cloud sync
analytics or telemetry
advertising SDKs
license activation
subscription billing
automatic update checks
remote crash reporting

Network behavior

The Windows application starts a local HTTP server only on 127.0.0.1 in the current version. This is used to serve the local viewer and chat files on the same device.

Based on the current implementation:
the viewer server is bound to localhost only
LAN access is not enabled in the current version
external devices on the network cannot access the local viewer through the application’s built-in server in the current version

The application may also open external links in the user’s browser, such as the official GPT Exporter website or donation page, when the user chooses to do so.

How data is processed

Chat data is processed locally on the user’s device. The current export logic creates per-chat JSON files containing text-based message data for local viewing.

In the current version, the export logic is focused on text-only conversation content and does not provide a full remote media processing service.

Local storage locations

Based on the current application behavior, local files may be stored in locations such as:
the application directory
chats/first next to the executable or runtime folder
.gpt-exporter next to the executable or runtime folder
local log files such as app.log
local crash dump files such as crash.dump

Temporary working files may be created during export and removed after the export flow completes.

Clipboard access

When using the local viewer, the user may choose to copy message text or code blocks to the clipboard using local viewer controls. Clipboard actions are initiated by the user.

Logs and diagnostics

The application may create local diagnostic files such as:
application logs
local crash dump files
local export activity logs shown in the application interface

In the current version, these diagnostics are stored locally and are not automatically transmitted to GPT Exporter or third parties.

How we use information

The Windows application uses locally processed information only for purposes such as:
opening and validating the selected export ZIP
extracting supported conversations
converting chats into local files
serving the local viewer on the user’s device
displaying exported chats in the browser
maintaining local logs and diagnostics
troubleshooting local export problems

Data sharing

In the current version, the Windows application does not automatically share exported chat content, local chat files, or local diagnostics with GPT Exporter or third parties.

Data may be disclosed only if the user manually shares files, screenshots, logs, or exported content outside the application.

Data retention

The Windows application stores local files until the user deletes them or removes the application files from the device.

The application does not currently provide a full built-in data deletion workflow for all local files. Users are responsible for deleting exported chats, logs, and related folders if they no longer want them stored on the device.

Data security

The Windows application is designed to keep data local in the current version, but no local storage system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

The application does not currently encrypt exported chat files, local logs, or local working files by default. Users are responsible for securing their own Windows account, device access, backups, and local file storage.

Children’s privacy

The Windows application is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly design the application for children.

Platform distribution

GPT Exporter may be distributed through direct download, repositories, or application stores depending on the version and release channel. Additional platform requirements or disclosures may apply where required by a store operator or platform policy.

If a future store distribution channel requires additional disclosures, this Privacy Policy may be updated accordingly.

This section applies to the Android application only. Separate terms may apply to the website and Windows desktop application.

What the Android application does

GPT Exporter for Android is a local-first application that allows you to select an official ChatGPT export ZIP, process supported conversation data on your device, save extracted chats locally, and browse those chats inside the app.

In version 0.1.1-nova, the app:
lets you choose a ZIP file through the Android document picker
reads supported conversation data from that ZIP locally
extracts text-based chats into app-local JSON files
stores extracted chats in the app’s internal storage
lets you browse extracted chats inside the app
lets you copy text or code snippets locally through Android clipboard features

Information the app accesses

The Android app accesses only information that you intentionally provide to it or that is created locally as part of app usage.

This may include:
the ZIP file you choose through the Android system file picker
conversation files contained in that ZIP
manifest files contained in that ZIP where present
text messages extracted from supported conversations
local app preferences such as recently opened chat file references
local app-generated extracted chat files
temporary files created in app cache during import

What the app does not do in the current version

In version 0.1.1-nova, the Android app does not include:
user accounts
login systems
cloud backup
cloud sync
analytics
telemetry
advertising SDKs
push notifications
in-app purchases
subscription billing
automatic update checks
remote crash reporting
WebView-based chat browsing
a local HTTP server

Permissions and device access

Based on the current application manifest provided for version 0.1.1-nova, the app does not declare Android permissions such as Internet, location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, call logs, advertising ID access, Bluetooth, or notifications.

ZIP file selection is performed through the Android system document picker, which means you choose the file that the app can access.

How the app stores data

In the current version, extracted chat files are stored in the app’s internal storage under the application files directory. Recent chat references may also be stored locally using Android SharedPreferences.

Temporary import files may be created in the app cache during processing and removed after import.

Network behavior

Based on the current Android implementation of version 0.1.1-nova, the app does not require Internet permission and does not include a local HTTP server.

The app may open external links only when you choose to do so, such as:
the official project website
a support email link using your email app

How information is processed

In version 0.1.1-nova, processing is performed locally on your Android device.

The current implementation is focused on text-only chat extraction. The app does not currently process exported images, attachments, or rich media as part of the main Android extraction workflow described here.

Clipboard use

The app allows you to copy message text and code blocks to the clipboard. Clipboard actions are initiated by you through the app interface.

How we use information

The Android app uses locally processed information only for purposes such as:
opening the ZIP file you selected
reading supported conversation sources
extracting text-based chats
saving extracted chats locally
displaying chats in the app
showing recent chats
allowing you to delete extracted chats from the device

Data sharing

In version 0.1.1-nova, the Android app does not automatically send your extracted chats, ZIP contents, local preferences, or local app data to GPT Exporter or third parties.

Data may leave your device only if you manually share it outside the app, such as by sending files, screenshots, copied text, or emails using other applications.

Data retention and deletion

Extracted chats remain stored locally until you delete them, clear app data, uninstall the app, or use the app’s available deletion flow.

In the current version, the app includes a user action to delete extracted chats from the device.

Data security

The app is designed to keep data local in version 0.1.1-nova, but no mobile device or local storage environment can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

The current version does not indicate encryption of extracted chat files by default. You remain responsible for protecting access to your Android device, backups, screenshots, clipboard contents, and any files you choose to export or share outside the app.

Children’s privacy

The Android app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.

Google Play and future versions

This Privacy Policy describes the behavior of Android app version 0.1.1-nova based on the current implementation reviewed for release preparation.

Future versions of the Android app may include new features, changed storage behavior, additional import capabilities, different permissions, store-related requirements, or other technical changes. If that happens, this Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect those changes.
